I have an 20 year old cat who has bad teeth and problems eating both canned and dry food. What can i do?
What are some other options for food for my cat so she can get more food and nutrition?
I would switch him to exclusively wet diet. Not only because it will be easier for him to eat with the bad teeth, but also because dry food is just not good for your cat, and at this age, you want to do whatever to keep his life high quality.
You vet may prescribe a special dry diet – don’t fall for that. It’s just as much crap as the store brands and causes diebets and obesity. The high sugar in those foods can’t be good for teeth either, even though I haven’t researched that.
High quality wet food (grain-free, no by-product) is the best you can do for your cat now. Stick to brands like EVO, Welness, Merrick and Nature’s variety.
You can mash the foods and feed him with a syringe.
